NEW TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE
Oregonian Column

John R. Czarnecki, Architect was founded in 1989.
We work in collaboration with our clients to understand and interpret their needs and ideals. Inspiration and technical expertise are combined with careful attention to detail, providing a full range of architectural services of high quality and genuine value. These services include feasibility studies, project design, construction documents, and construction administration. The practice includes residential, commercial and institutional projects. We are also noted for fine work on restoration and renovation of historic structures.

We look to architectural precedent for inspiration in all of the work, and are guided by traditional architectural principles in style, ornament and authentic detail. Traditional work is built on proportions that relate to human scale and to nature, resulting in buildings and spaces that are enduring, useful and beautiful from concept to detail.

Traditional design holds unlimited possibilities for delightful expression. It also includes the use of developing technologies to meet the challenges of modern living. We promote sustainable design and construction practices, and use new materials that have stood the test of time. Re-using existing materials can also connect us to our history and add visual richness to the work. The quality of design can itself ensure its permanence.

It is our goal that New Traditional Architecture fit naturally into its urban or rural surroundings. Whether modest or sumptuous, the work should seem as though it was always there. It should be graceful, useful and represent best use of the clients’ resources. The architecture should seem familiar yet should exceed expectations.
